Well here is our new hobby! The redo of a 67 Shasta Compact. It isnt a restoration but rather our vision of what we would have wanted back in the day. It gives my yard sale/thrift store/flea marketing a purpose too!

This is just a way for everyone to keep up with what we are doing with it.

The kids are so excited and already driving me nuts to get it done so they can camp out in it. I think this is going to be a blast for all of us.

So stay tuned I will be updating as I go along and you never know what we might do to it!

BTW.....thrift store and closet shopping

While hitting a couple thrift stores today I also found an old condiment bottle holder its made or chrome and fits around the bottles I havent seen one in ages cost $.25 I also hot up my bookshelf and found about a dozen old Agatha Christie mysteries for me to reread when we go camping and they all fit in with the theme best of all they were free!

I also dug out my box of vintage postcards and pulled a few from different places I plan to get a corkboard or something similar to hang old brochures and post cards on. I also can across a box of old old thermos bottles we picked up last year from the auction I think we paid $3 for lot I think at least a few can go in the camper.

My oldest also contributed an OLD tackle box he picked up a while back at the flea market. He also contributed some tackle (I have no idea what though!) and it goes well with the older style fishing poles a neighbor put out for trash day a while back

So even with the stuff from Saturday here is our total spent:
flea market finds $ 5.00
thrift store (and old auctions) $3.25

Grand total of $8.25

To paint or not to paint that is the question.......

Well we need to replace some panelling in the back the laminate has separated from the old moisture issue so do we go back original or do we replace it and paint it to match? I have several pieces of bead board I am considering putting to use then painting out the rest semigloss white (kitchen and bath to prevent any mildew! and it cleans better) but then I look at what good shape the side walls are in and I wonder if I might be just a little off and should see if we cant match it. This would be much easier if it were the older style with the solid plywood.

But while cruising the archives in several Shasta and Vintage trailer groups I am in I have seen them both ways and I still cant decided!

I guess the primer will have to wait another day so I can decide!

who needs a bath?

Well this weekend she got her first bath and like all new babies she looked a lot better for it. I was so happy to have a day with sun and warmer (60ish) temps.

I also hit the Flea Market and bought a tiny set of salt and pepper shakers, a couple of picture frames, and a couple of books from the 60's total investment $5

How it all started......

It all started innocently enough....a casual glance at an ad on a yard sale site (http://www.biloxiyardsales.com/ ~shameless plug to Connie!) and a passing "Honey, isn't this cute?" and the reply of "Well we could swing that. Let's go take a look at it tomorrow."

Of course I didn't think to much of it since you never know what kind of shape it is in or how big or in this case how very small......or how very cute it is.

Well a quick trip out to the country turned into an excursion since I had no idea that there was a Mardi Gras parade going on in the county area! Who knew? Well after we waited for traffic to clear up we were back on our way and tucked away on a little country road was this little gem and I have to say it was love at first site for both of us. We played it off with the owner of course, gave it the once over and negotiated the price. One tire was low so we went back today to pick it up.

It pulls like a dream the tires and the axle are both in good shape. One rear brake light needs replaced but the lens are all in good shape. the electrical inside has been updated to breakers from the old style fuse box (thank you previous owner). One of the bed lamps isn't working and that will be a future project for us. but the stove and fridge are both in good shape. The fridge isn't original as it had a propane but now has a nice little electric one.

So today we brought it home and cleaned the inside. I will post those pictures tomorrow but for today here are the pictures that first caught my eye.
